Located in the municipality of Benguerir, in the very heart of the Green City, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University aspires to leave its mark nationally, continentally, and globally.Poste :Job description:The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for a research assistant position within the International Water Research Institute (IWRI).We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled graduate with quantitative analysis expertise to support our efforts in water management, focusing on comparative analyses of water use in tourist and industrial sectors, as well as forecasting desalination requirements. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research involving the modeling and conducting of robust data analysis, aimed at furthering the sustainable governance of water resources.Key duties:The main tasks to be performed include:
  • Conduct statistical analyses to identify water usage trends and challenges in commercial and industrial sectors.
  • Contribute to the development of models to forecast future water requirements, based on demographic, economic, and environmental factors.
  • Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of data related to water consumption, wastewater treatment, and production technologies.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and academic papers summarizing research findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with senior researchers and stakeholders to support ongoing projects and initiatives in water management.
About IWRI:International Water Research Institute (IWRI/UM6P) aims to rethink and adapt research, development, innovation and training to new paradigms to meet future water and climate challenges.IWRI implements interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary education and research programs around issues related to Water and Climate on the campus of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Benguerir, as well as two future Research and Innovation platforms dedicated to Water at the Mazagan Campus and Laayoune Technopole. It aims to act as an African Water Hub through triangular strategic cooperation and partnerships (International Open Space Exchange Platform).The objectives are to conduct cutting-edge research where local themes are connected to global issues of water and climate, with a focus on:
  • Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)
  • Development of advanced water technologies (irrigation, water supply and sanitation, desalination, wastewater treatment and reuse)

  • Climate Change and Adaptation Strategies.
Profil recherché :Skills:The skill set sought in an ideal applicant includes:Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in social sciences (economics or agricultural economics), Econometrics, geography, rural engineering, soil sciences or a related discipline, with rigorous quantitative and data analysis training.
  • Research Skills: Proficiency in conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, and synthesizing information from multiple sources.
  • Statistical Proficiency: Experience with statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS) for data analysis and modeling purposes.
  • Familiarity with natural resources and Water Management: Good understanding of principles and practices in water and natural resource management, resource use efficiency, and conservation strategies is a great asset.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey research findings effectively through reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively, ensuring timely completion of research milestones.
  • Flexibility: willingness to travel. / Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary research team.
